Played at East Hertfordshire Golf Club
In our first Away match of the season, we travelled to East Herts near Buntingford to play the Hertfordshire Team. This is their nominated Home Course for the season, so we were up against a team with significant home advantage and knowledge of the course which is an undulating parkland with narrow fairways and doglegs, framed by lots of trees. It was nice to play on green fairways although we were still playing pick and place due to some dry patches, which seems to be an ongoing theme this year.
The Club management were very welcoming with coffee and a delicious meal after the round. We thankfully enjoyed a warm and dry round even though it had threatened rain and thunder earlier in the week.
We played some great matches with 2 wins from Jane and Sheree and Donna halving hers, however we regrettably suffered a 2.5 to 4.5 loss overall. Miwa and Anneliese were playing in their 1st Seniors League match of the season, making up the Team with Debbie and Linda.
Unfortunately, we were playing for the runner up places as Hampshire have already clinched the title with a clean sweep of four wins already.
We have our last match away to Buckinghamshire at Gerrards Cross on 1st September so will be hoping for a win to cap off the 2025 season.
