Held at Newbury & Crookham Golf Club on Thursday 5th June 2025
Newbury & Crookham welcomed 38 players to the 2025 BWG Senior Championships on a very wet and blustery day.
Although everyone commented on how the course was in great condition, scoring reflected the difficult conditions with the average nett score for the day being 78.
Linda Hunt, playing on her home course, became BWG Senior Champion for 2025 with a gross score of 80 closely followed by Jane Sly, Mill Ride, with 82, on count back from Sheree Dove-Wilde, Mill Ride, Linda and Jane reversing last year’s positions.
Linda said the final group were scoring very similarly and put her victory down to two ‘lucky’ putts from off the green on holes 16 and 17!

Sue Elsbury, from Sand Martins, had the best nett score with an excellent 69 with Jo Grieve, from Newbury & Crookham runner up on 72.

The damp conditions did not dull the 60th birthday celebrations of County Captain Jules Tarr, supported in force by 12 Castle Royle players.

Senior County Captain Debbie Ranwell thanked all the staff at N&C for hosting the event and the Lady Captain Anne Mrowiec and her Vice Kerry Barlow for organising a team of volunteers.
