Played at Mill Hill Golf Club
On Sunday 25th May Berkshire played a joint 1st/2nd team friendly match against Middlesex at Mill Hill Golf Club. For those of you that have not played Mill Hill, it is rather unusual, to say the least. The clubhouse is on one side of the A1 and the golf course is on the other side. You reach the course by walking down alongside the main road and through an underpass. Having said that, when you eventually get to the golf course, it is delightful. It has quite a few dog legs and quite a few ponds and will be hosting their County Match Week in late June. Their team manager took the opportunity to try out the composite card they are planning to use, so we played from a mixture of red, yellow and white tees.
We also played a slightly unusual format, in that we played foursomes for the front 9 and singles for the back 9. This means there were 3 points available per fourball {1 for the foursomes and 1 each for the singles}
It was an incredibly tight match, and none of the pairings won all 3 points. With only 1 group left on the course, Middlesex were ahead by 1 point. It was down to the final pairing of Tess Samuels and Sheree Dove-Wilde. They managed to secure 2.5 points from their game, ensuring a 1 point victory for Berkshire.
All of the games were played in great spirit and we wish Middlesex all the best in hosting their County Week.

Just to remind you all that our own County Match Week is approaching rapidly. It will be hosted by Buckinghamshire and played at Harewood Downs Golf Club, near Amersham, on the 9-11th June. It would be great to have as much support as possible. I look forward to seeing you there!
