Played at Royal Ascot Golf Club
On Tuesday 15th July, the Seniors met Middlesex for our annual friendly 4BBB fixture, this time on home soil at Royal Ascot golf club. The weather continued to be changeable and extremely windy, although thankfully we stayed mostly dry. It made the open and extremely fast fairways especially challenging, likened more to a links experience rather than an inland course, nestled next to Ascot Racecourse.
We were welcomed with sandwiches and chips before play where Debbie and Paula won our first Match 5 and 3, thanks mainly to Paula’s home course knowledge. Angela and Jo came in early as well after a resounding win on the 15th, with Sue and Gabi going to the 18th to secure a vital half. Lucy and Michelle unfortunately lost their match, thanks mainly to some incredible putts that fell for the Middlesex ladies.
The final result was a win for Berkshire 2.5 to 1.5 and we look forward to our next Friendlies on 10th September at Puttenham against Surrey and then 25th September at East Berks where we will welcome Sussex.
