Angela Uzielli was a successful English Amateur golfer born in Norfolk but played for many years in Berkshire. She won the 1977 British Ladies Amateur, the 1990 English Women’s Amateur Championship, the Women’s Senior Amateur 6 times, as well as playing in the Curtis Cup in 1978. Following her unexpected death at the age of 59 in 1999, Angela’s close friend, Hannah, and husband, John, started the Angela Uzielli bursary, providing financial support to young women golfers entering higher education.
Each year the Angela Uzielli Final is held, helping to raise important funds. This year it was at Goring & Streatley on 8th October, with 18 Berkshire clubs taking part. As seemed to be the story with most competitions this Autumn, the conditions were very wet and windy. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who supported, helping on the desk as well as ball spotting in the weather! Gill Athey did a fantastic job on the computer and promptly finalised the results so everyone could warm up quickly with afternoon tea!
The trophy was won by Calcot Park with 34 points, represented by Debbie Ranwell and Sefia Rahim – a fantastic effort given the weather!

Sue Elsbury and Sue Hunt from Sand Martins took 2nd place with 29 points,

with Jane Stephen and Penny Bennett from Royal Ascot in 3rd with 28 points on count back.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the silent auction and supported the event. In total over £1000 was raised which is fantastic!
